Empire

As events are unfolding in today's troubled world, there's a disturbing parallel to the world events during the period of decline and fall of the Roman Empire.
  • There is only one superpower in the planet and it is under siege by an enemy that is inferior in almost all respects.
  • That it should have handily defeated such and any enemy as it did in the past, with far stronger opponents, but it appears to be powerless this time partly because its people have become "pansies".
  • And its collapse, in a world where there is no comparable power to mitigate the precipitous effects of the resulting vacuum, will result in a world of chaos and general decline.
We should heed the lessons of history. It took a thousand years for civilization to recover from the collapse of the Roman Empire. We cannot afford to let that happen again.
